Renting out my flat

Options
Hi

The sale of my flat has just fallen through for the 4th time:mad: So I've decided to rent it out for the time being as I'm losing money on it as it's sitting empty. I had a letting agency come round a few days ago but the charges they are asking are ridiculous.

Now I only live around the corner from my flat so it would be fairly easy to manage it myself. So I'm thinking about doing it all myself. Can anyone give me any tips about where I can get a copy of a tenancy agreemant to give me an idea and where is the best place to advertise that won't cost a fortune.

I live in the durham area if that helps. Thanks in advance.

you can co no better than join the National Landlords Association (https://www.landlords.org) - the joining fee is tax deductible - it is a lot more complex being a landlord than folks think. if you get it wrong and tenants dont pay the rent - it can take you upto 9 months to get them out if you have not got the right tenancy agreement !!! by that time it might have been repossessed. NLA offers cheaper insurances, so you will save most of your joining fee that way.

If it's your first time, best to go through an agency.

    False economy otherwise.
