As I thought, you will need at least a giro slip.

    From the MBNA website:

Pay at a bank:Use the Bank Giro Credit slip at the bottom of your statement. All types of payment, including cash, should be made at least 5 working days before the due date shown on your statement. A bank other than the Co–operative Bank may charge a fee.

These are your other payment options. Hope it helps.

    Pay online
: Log on to Online Banking
Payments taken before 5 p.m., Monday to Friday will be credited to your MBNA credit card account in 2 working days. Payments made after 5 p.m. or on weekends or bank holidays will be credited to your account in 3 working days. Payments made after 2:30 p.m. on the last day of each month will take an extra day to be credited to your account. In all cases, you will see your payment in Online Banking the day after it is credited to your account.

Note: Whilst we do not set restrictions on the amount you can pay using your debit card on our Online Banking site, your debit card issuer may set a transaction limit.

Pay by post: Post your cheque together with the completed bank giro slip (at the bottom of your statement) to:
    Card Services
    Royal Avenue
    Widnes
    WA88 1AD
Please make your cheque payable to MBNA EBL and remember to write your card number on the front of the cheque and your name and address on the reverse of the cheque. Be sure to allow up to 5 working days before your payment due date shown on your statement. This may take longer if you use 2nd class post.

Pay by phone/Internet Banking (Faster payments
): Please contact your bank to take advantage of this service. You will need (1) your credit card number, (2) our bank account: 70328725 and (3) our sort code: 08-61-30. Please allow up to 4 working days for telephone/internet banking payments. Faster Payments received Monday to Friday before 4pm will be credited to your account the same working day. After 4pm, or on a weekend/bank holiday, they will be credited to your account the next working day. Payments can be seen on your account the day after being credited.

I've been charged 12 quid by MBNA (who allowed just 16 days payment period) although the balance was paid off online two days early! Other cards list 25 days payment in the agreement - it seems MBNA do not...You have been warned.

You would not have been charged £12 if you had paid two days early. I assume you mean you sent the money two days before the deadline, and it arrived late. They clearly tell you when you have to pay by, and how long to allow for various methods to arrive.

    Why stay with them then?
Take your business elsewhere - personally they have been ok with me and certainly come up with regular interest free offers.

Yes, they do, faster payments are supposed to be credited the same day.
