Hope this is the right place for this...
Hey,
I've just got a 37" Panasonic Plasma TV, which I am very happy with.
However, it was sold with the promise of a 5 year Warranty (a promotion run directly from Panasonic).
I wasn't given the form when I collected the TV (29th Dec), so went back the next day to get it. They stamped and signed the form, and I then headed home.
But, I have just read the form, and it says "Purchases between 1st Oct and 24th December", so I am bascailly now unable to claim my 5 year warrenty and am stuck with the basic 1 year.
I could have bought it from Bentalls (local deparment store in Kingston Upon Thames), or John Lewis where I'd got a 5 year Warrenty too, but choose Sevenoaks due to them helping a lot whilst I was looking for what set to go for.
I haven't actually spoken to Sevenoaks yet (will do that tomorrow morning), but what are my rights here? I assume I have been "mis-sold" the TV, and are therefore intitled to either get a 5 year Warrenty that they pay for, or I should be able to return the TV for a full refund?
Thanks in advanced for any advice.
Danny

You are indeed entitled to a full refund under the sale of goods act.
Feel free to ask for them to stick the warranty though, after all it may be in their interest to do so and it will be easier for you. But if they reject your offer claim the full refund.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Thanks.
I hope they are able to sort out the Warranty though. It's gonna be a pain having to re-pack it all. And it's also very heavy, so would be annoying having to cart it back to the shop.
I'll update once I hear back from them.0 -
Did you purchase the TV on the day you collected it or was it purchased before the 24th?0
-
Yes. I did. It wasn't purchased before the 24th, but I was told in the shop that I would be getting the warranty. They had signs up in the shop advertising the fact too.0

In that case you have definitly been missold the TV. The Panasonic Viera dealer warranty promotion is quite specific and the retailer should have known this.

It may be worth also contacting Panasonic to see what they say, you never know they may have extended the offer.0 -
Update:
Phoned Sevenoaks this morning, and they informed me that Panasonic extended the offer until the end of the year (2009), and I can send the form off and get the warrenty as promised, which is good news.0 -
-
Yep. I was planning on phoning them on Monday first, before I send off the form.0
