I have a Navman iCN 610,which is now discontinued, and unfortunately, you have to buy a regional unlock key for a group of european countries,as I discovered last year.Including the memory card,it was about an extra £100 on top of the price.I could have bought a better spec Navman at the time, and with hindsight, perhaps I should have done.

So just beware, when you buy a satnav.

In saying that,as a newbie to european driving,it was a godsend, and I couldn't have managed without it,and certainly couldn't rely on the missus to read a map,as she can't navigate her way out of the drive!!!!

Also, check out:http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/index.php for all things satnav.

    Hope this helps.

Whatever hardware you end up buying, I'd say stick with Tom Tom as it's the best software out there IMHO. I've just used it for a Fly-Drive holiday in the USA and couldn't have got by without it. Lot's of dedicated Tom Tom packages being sold in places like Halfords although I run it on an HP Ipaq PDA myself. Same software though.

Tomtom is slightly better (postcode search), but if you can get Europe maps at the same price with MioMap coming with Mio PDAs like P350 (replacement model for Mio 168). I used to have MioMap before my sat nav was stolen :(. What is good about MioMap is that it shows speed limit. Not always correct, but sometimes I miss it with tomtom.
