Kitchen flooring

Hello,
We are getting our kitchen madeover with new cupboard doors on the existing units, new worktops. We're also going to get a new floor. Thinking of going for lino (about £18.00 per sqm) from Carpetright. The salesman chap said we'd have to get the existing floor up, 1st, which is pretty impossible. I have laid two lots of square sticky tiles over the last five years and this was on top of the original laminate flooring! Would we be able to have the lino fitted directly on top of the existing stuff?
Also, I suppose, anyone have any advice on whether to go with Carpetright, or look elsewhere? The carpet we liked for a different room, was only £4.99 square foot, I think, so sounds reasonable (in fact, most of their carpets seemed to be around 3, 4 or 5 pounds).
Anyway, thanks in advance.
Duncan

Check out other threads on Carpet right , I love them , but others will tell
'go to an independent store . always better value'
Not round here , went to a few of my local shops , would have to take out another bank loan :rotfl:
I had a 'free' survey to check out the kitchen and to work out the costs, thats the time to talk to someone , other than the salesman.Would we be able to have the lino fitted directly on top of the existing stuff?
Without knowing the state of the tiles , who could give you sound advice.
Could some one just fit on top . yes
but would you get the guarantee  0 -
I've had carpets from there, you get what you pay for. Less than a fiver a mtr is a cheap carpet. Get a decent underlay and that should prolong life, but don't expect 20 years of life out of it!
If you can, you could lay a new floor over the existing floor. Ply or chipbaord depending on levels, thresholds, etc.
I have heard of puting a layer of really cheap lino down, then the new article on top, haven't actually seen the finished effect so can't really comment.0
