Thinking about going to Girona in september. Anyone have any info on the place and surrounding area or been there. Had planned to go for a week , but think there may not be enough to do for that length of time. Also, could anyone reccommend a hotel in the town.

Plenty to do in Girona. Also round about you have l'estartit, Callela parafrugal,Figueres,Lloret,Callela,Plaja d Aro
You can get Girona info here0 -
i just came back from girona 2 weeks ago...very nice area...i stayed at a holiday camp in l'estartit which was a walking distance from the beach. Girona itself is an old town and although nice one day is enough to see almost everything but there are alot of surrounding nice spots...dont forget to visit the beautiful barcelona which is only about 60 miles away...ideally you need to hire a car to enjoy the area.0

We loved Girona. . We stayed in Girona town and didn't see half of it in the four days we were there though we did have a car so toured about a bit. There are some nice places to see inland as well as on the coast. See trip advisor.com for hotel recommendations.0

Girona is a really nice place to go. I flew with Ryanair and it was hassle free. I found that it was not too touched by tourism and not everyone spoke English but found it refreshing. There are plenty of shops and supermarkets there if you need any shopping (for trips out etc). Still places like Pizzahut if you still want somewhere familiar to eat.
As you walk into the town there is a large bus station and rail station and you can get the train to Barcelona if you want to and it wasnt very expensive and easy to use.
Weather was great and very hot even though we went early in the year. The airport was small so also easy to navigate.
Hope you have a great time there. I would def go back again. I would even go with just myself and my son on our own as it wasnt a bit intimidating.0 -
Hi - I went on a day trip there a few years ago. It is lovely and one day was fine for me, although I could have stayed there longer. Just one hint, like most cities, don't stop for coffee or a snack in the main square where the cathedral is.....costs a fortune!!!

I'd recommend doing a search on https://www.venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too. Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W
Hope that helps0
