Name and shame the dealer. This will be more harmful to them, any potential car buyer in Gloucestershire could then avoid them at all cost, (me being one).
Of course you could inform them that you will do this if they fail to honour the agreement.
The Internet is a very powerful tool. Many potential buyers research forums like this one.
Infact, copy this post and e-mail them all the responses as a last resource.

    good sorted that

give them a call when they are next open and ask them to pay the other £150 to your account,

if they do not do so after a couple of days then write to them giving them 14 days to do so or you will file papers in the small claims court,

send the letter recorded delivery so that there is a signature of receipt

  • Yes, will follow all of that... FYI it's Tiger Motors Ltd in Glos. I'm not sure how else to 'out' them apart from on here.
Thanks so much for all help, have been winding myself up with this one - sometimes you feel like you have been very foolish but I guess we can all be naive. I will update how this one turns out!
From a very feisty but not very frightening pregnant woman - hah!
  • PS And to make myself look like a total plank, I'll shortly be posting my mortgage woes on MSE.
  • I bought a bookcase from Ikea and it said that all the fittings were included. I think I may sue them as I had to buy 2 self tapper screws as they were missing...

Did you (OP) buy the car based on the fact it had a CDM or the fact it was the car you wanted? (BMW 3 series)

    Harvey- you're talking bobbles.

If the car was slightly cheaper than another one, but both had an OEM CD player, and they were both of a similar age, condition etc..., I'd go for the cheaper one. But would it be cheaper if you had to source a new CD player - NO.

Screws are 50p. New head units for cars are bloody expensive.

If Ikea asked you to pay £5 more for your bookcase than everyone else, would you accept that? The fact is the OP was sold a car with a CD unit - he is now having to pay more money to rectify the garages lies and mistakes.

If you phone consumer direct (call centre for trading standards) they will email you template letters to use, if you dont get anywhere than they will pass to your local trading standards to investigate - and they will get back to you within a day or two and if needs be take up the case on your behalf - I've used them twice recently and was happy with the outcome.
    Snootchie Bootchies!
  • I wonder what business you are in Harvey.
    Sounds like the right one.

Yeah, will call consumer direct tomorrow if they are about - thanks.
  • if they dont pay, I would not Slander them until you have been to the small claims court, then do it by either contcting you local paper letting them know what has happened especially if you win, or by using FACEBOOK, just start a new group about avoiding the garage, you can guarentee people will leave posts about the garage ect.
