Guys, can you put me straight on this, if i went into John Lewis, with the a copy of the email that richer sounds sent me (£400) for the lcd 40 inch samsung), would they price match it, thanks guys

I just came back from JL with the TV today. I tried to price match on Monday but JL didnt want to do it and they said they have to do a Price Match investigation. After 2 days and a couple of tele-conversations (where I had to make a forceful argument to get it) they agreed to the price match. Had further issues saying delivery will take 2 weeks but was able to reserve one in store today and got them to transfer the price match to the new reservation. A bit of a hassle with all the arguments and collecting in person, but considering my circumstances I think I came out ok. They price matched the Comet's price (which they said was £429 on Monday but I think it was £499 and it was Curry's that was selling it for £429).

richer sounds has the 530 for £400!
Will be very interested in how this works out. Richer Sounds had the same TV for £399 as Boxing day special and they sold out. I tried getting it but according to the store that I went to they were allowed to sell only 6 units at that price on that day. I wrote about my disappointment to them and they called back on Tuesday saying that they were out of stock but will be getting new stock at a price of £450 and nothing lower (He offered it to me for £425 because I couldn't get one on Boxing day). So, if they are still selling this item for £399 in store I would be very interested in knowing about it cos that would mean the guy lied to me about it. John Lewis is supposed to check whether stock is available so even if you take an email I think they will still check with the store (and I think it has to be a store within 8 miles) to see if stock is available before price matching. But Good Luck - I hope it works out

Oh BTW - excellent TV. Just switched it on and it looks great.

  • Good to hear your got yours from JL and the 5 Year Warranty is a bonus. I range the sheffield store which did have one left on friday but it had gone so i couldnt do a price match.

Instead i was drawn in by all the other tvs and walked out alive just almost spending over £1,000 lol.. theres to much dam choice out there, and it doesnt help when your an impuls buyer.

Richard sounds did say they will be expecting more in within a couple of weeks.

Yea it was advertised at £429 at Curry's on Wednesday but they had none in stock. I asked if they were getting any more in and they said eventually but they will go back up to £499 - although they still have it all on display!

Comet had them at £499 and so I ended up buying mine from there for £460 (5% discount code and 3% cashback).

I just went to Sainsburys and they are in store at £499 although they are also advertising the smaller 37" model for £549

i noticed that as well, i want a bigger tv, we currently have a 32", i would like a 42" but the mrs has quite rightly said it would be too big for our room, well too big to put it where we need to in our room so am looking at getting a 37", only trouble is you never seem to get any decent offers on 37" tv`s, plenty on 40 & 42 but nothing on 37"
Take every day as it comes!!
