hi im wondering if anyone can help me.
Im a single mum and i have a 4 month old baby, and i currently live with my mum. i am on benefits, ( income support, child benefit, and tax credit) and i would like to move out my mum's place and rent someplace of my own. i have been on the council housing waiting list for nearly 2 years, and i still not anywhere near getting offered a place. Ive found some good and realiable renting places in town that have good names, but what happenes with paying the rent etc?? i know that i am entitled to houseing benefit but how does it all start?? and also would i be entitled to other benifits too, since i am a single mum and i dont work??

Hi, you would not be seen as priority for a council house as you are no 'in need' or seen as vunerable.
You would need to claim Local Housing Allowance if you was going to private rent from your Local Authority, you need to fill out some forms for LHA and CTB.
Some LAs offer bond schemes where they will help you with your bond.
You seem to be claiming all the benefits you are entitled to.
It may be worth looking at Housing Association where you will recieve a more secure tenancy.0
