Kwik Fit Insurance
Hi
My car insurance is due and I've trawled through all the comparision web-sites and the cheapest deal for me is Kwik Fit insurance, this is cheaper by around 30.00, plus they are offering a free MOT.
Has anybody any experiences using them? The free MOT sounds good, but obviously will have to be carried out at a Kwik Fit garage and I can't say I've heard good things about them! Is it worth going for anyway? Any advice greatly received!!
Thanks.

proceed with caution.
bad experience my mother went with them. She signed up for that price but all of a sudden she found herself getting a phone call (after she signed up) that the premium was wrong and they were increasing her direct debit.
the Kwik fit garages tend to be a rip off and very dubious at pulling the wool over peoples eyes. A female friend of mine (with a degree in mechanical engineering) was told all her brakes were corroded and she needed them all replaced. She asked how they know this as they havent even put the car up on the lifting machine! Surprised, 4 of them went and had a look and were shocked that they were new. One of them found a tiny speck of dirt and used an excuse that it was dangerous. She told them to get lost, packed up and left.
It seems to always be one of the cheapest - but with most things if its too good to be true, it probably isnt. Id be vary and ask alot of questions before signing the line.0 -
A family member got insurance from them in 2006, Cheapest quote on the comparison sites. Paid in full for a year. Never made any claims. When renewal came they bumped the premium up by £100.0

They were the cheapest for us but this year after coming to renew with another years no claims, the premium went up nearly £700! We politely declined.

Thanks for the advice! I wouldn't worry about them increasing my direct debit as I pay the full amount in one go! My main concern was the free MOT, I'm not very clued up on cars and would be worried that they would fail my car and tell me I need lots of work doing to it.
Not sure what I'm going to do now?:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I always seem to find this no matter who i'm insured with?! Every year I have changed companies as I can always get a cheaper price with another company. At the end of the day I'm not loyal to insurance companies and just want the best deal for the cheapest price!!
I have been with Endsleigh for the last year, they were the cheapest for me by a long shot last year according to the comparision web-sites, this year my premium is 200.00 more than last year, yet I haven't made any claims!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

You've nothing to lose with the free MOT I guess. If you use it and they pass your car/just have something very minor to do then thats good, but if not you've lost nothing and can still take it elsewhere for a second opinion.0

One thing to bear in mind with Kwik Fit is they charge £25 for each ammendment to your policy. If you change cars regularly, for example, then this can rapidly add up.
At the time I was living in a bad area and was driving around in old bangers since they wouldn't last long before being vandalised, stolen, or just dieing of old age. Spent £100 in policy amendments and thus would have been better off going with the second cheapest insurer.0 -

Who would have let you change vehicles for zero admin fee presumably...dont think so, most have some kind of penalty for changing details.
OP, if you want cheap car insurance go with the cheapest; if it's the free MOT thats bothering you, take it elsewhere for that.0 -
I agree with mollycat, take the cheapest but just don't bother using the free MOT.0
