Which xbox360?

I need a little advice please.
I want a xbox360, mostly just for playing FPS's on, Halo and the like.
I'm not really into online playing, my internet connection wasn't fast enough on the original xbox and it hasn't changed, also I get bored with it.
So whats the best option for me, the elite or the arcade? I'm not sure what difference the drive will make for me.
I am also in the process of buying a HD ready tv, so I believe I need to buy an extra cable with the arcade that comes as std with the elite?

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

All 360's have an hdmi out port. Buy a cable from amazon, at the correct length for your setup - I just got 2 80cm ones for the princely sum of £1.52 each, including postage

The elite package no longer comes with an hdmi cable, so you'll need one anyway.
The arcade only has 256 MB of save space, so really you will need a HDD for your saves/game installs/etc. The elite comes witha 120Gb HDD anyway, so if you buy an arcade you'll need to fork out for a hdd on top anyway.
Best value package at the moment is an Elite, with an extra controller and 4 games for £200 from amazon and, I think, Game. All you need on top is the hdmi cable

What games would I be installing then? I'm not sure I understand the way it works.
So in real life, what sort of saves could I make on something like Halo.? I mean if I can't play and save the game properly without a hard drive then the question is pretty academic as to which one I should get.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

you can DL games/demos from xbox live(on a gold account) or rip your own games to the hard drive from disc to speed up loading times and cut on noise0 -

You can save games with the memory unit supplied with the Arcade, don't worry.
Without the hard drive though, any downloadable content will be out your reach, though to be honest my younger son uses his Arcade machine just fine without any updates, downloads, etc.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thanks all, I have gone for the Amazon deal, which is now down to £179.99 btw.
With some games I don't want like fifa 10, so I can sell those on ebay and make some money back.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
