Randomly sending out your CV is like clutching at straws. Any help with specific companies would be very helpful.

Sending out speculative applications is a perfectly reasonable thing to do and sometimes brings results. I can't see how anybody could help with specific companies anyway, unless they know where the applicant is located!

Like Skintdad above you has gave a few...that's a starting point. "lots of call centres and shops"

So if names such as (for example) Next, Sky, M&S etc etc (note these are NOT companies, I am just using for example) then anyone can get in touch with their local company and ask for the address and then send the CV in. If it's a no then fair enough but they may keep your name on file for future ;)

I agree with a blanket CV frenzy but if someone has inside info then all the better eh?!;)

Well the way dmg generalised it, it was like she had a list to hand....no one is asking her to do any research, if she can't give the names off the top of her head then so be it.

But to make such a statement as 'many call centres and shops', one would assume that she would know of a certain few as oppose to just stabbing in the dark.

Surely in these times, any advice would be a help to someone. I have already asked in my work but there are no vacancies at present

Why not appreciate any suggestions and use them as a starting point, not criticise people who are taking a few moments of their time to offer suggestions. No-one here is paid to do research for you.

Why not reel your neck in and read my posts correctly. There is no criticism of anyone, merely asking for further info if it was available.

A comment was made of 'many call centres and shops' and all I was wondering if dmg knew of any specifically.

I did read your post, and it came across as rather sarcastic. Maybe instead of telling me to 'reel my head in', you should think about how your posts might come across. No need to be rude. You or your friend need to do your own research to find out which of these exist in your/her local area. It's no use anyone saying 'try the British Gas call centre' if that's in Exeter and your friend's in Edinburgh.

Local Authorities, Civil Service, NHS sometimes offer term-time only working. No, I can't list them.

Community care companies often do term times only as they tend to have students helping out in the holidays.

But then if the BG in Exeter takes term time then there would be no reason for any other areas not to....get my drift...we'd all like to think that organisations offer term time but as the posr from ChrissyG a few posts up would show - it's not always the case and dmg seemed very confident in her statment.

It was a sweeping statement which I asked if there was any further info on and dmg has not came back to this thread....

I don't need to think how my posts come across as, sadly since it's an internet forum, I can't put tone in it so everyone has their own interpretation. If you think I am rude and/or sarcastic then I can assure you I won't be losing any sleep over it (now there's the sarcasm for you:rolleyes:)

To the person that said NHS, thanks but I already work TT for them and I have asked about. Many thanks also for the 'witty' comment at the end
