hi im wondering if anyone can help me.
Im a single mum and i have a 4 month old baby, and i currently live with my mum. i am on benefits, ( income support, child benefit, and tax credit) and i would like to move out my mum's place and rent someplace of my own. i have been on the council housing waiting list for nearly 2 years, and i still not anywhere near getting offered a place. Ive found some good and realiable renting places in town that have good names, but what happenes with paying the rent etc?? i know that i am entitled to houseing benefit but how does it all start?? and also would i be entitled to other benifits too, since i am a single mum and i dont work??

This isn't really the best place for this post as it's not about money-saving, try the Benefits and Tax Credits forum
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

right or wrong and against the rules or not, there isnt much about moneysaving on this part of the board, the family board is like a nice version of the arms
hismummy - they are better equipped to advise you on the benefits board, but as a start you should pop in to or phone up your local benefit office and tell them you want to apply for housing /council tax benefit, and they will ask a few questions, answer your questions and send you/give you the forms to get you started,
i had to apply for it all when i split with my ex and once you have ploughed your way through all the forms its not too bad, i have my housing paid directly to my letting agent, that way it never comes near my account and i dont have the opprtunity to mess it up!
good luck with the flat hunting!0 -

It's here:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=139
Start a new thread over there and copy and paste what you wrote here. They will be much better advised to help you.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

in future if you see some words highlighted in blue (see carolinosourus's post) then its clickable, it will take you straight there, or links like Kikis work just as well,
yeah your going to have to wait until they start up again... but in the mean time you could be browsing benefit friendly letting agent websites!0
