Hi i'm thinking about making place mats from football cards and try to sell them would i need the cards makers permission to do this?

It sounds like a nice simple idea, but if you're doing it commercially from copyrighted sources, then you could run into a number of issues. Not only from the card makers, but you'd need permission from the copyright holder of the photographs too. Ultimately, I suspect getting the correct licensing in place will probably be prohibitively costly. If somebody still has active exclusive rights to 'exploit' an image (technical term), then its unlikely you'd be granted a license for that. As for the footballers, that's probably yet another minefield which could be very expensive to acquire rights for using their likenesses. Then there's the football clubs themselves. each club will have trademarked logos.0

Thanks what about all the other people who sell football stuff though ebay shops( don't they have to have permission) if i bought posters and laminated them would that be breakingthe law?0

It is if the seller is doing the same thing and not getting permission or paying a fee to clubs.Kind Regards
