How can I transfer to another card now I don't work/earn?

Hi All,

I've had my Lloyds TSB credit card for as long as I can remember and have always kept it up to date. I don't work now - stay home mum - but my husband does. He has a second card on this account in his name, though it's not a joint card/account. I'm desperate to transfer the balance to a 0% or low % card but as I don't earn anything now, I can't see a way around doing it as they'll see me as not being able to make payments if I have no income, despite my husband earning a good wage. Can anyone advise? Many thanks in advance

    You might struggle.

But give your occupation as Housewife (or Homemaker) and see what happens.

If you are successful, your credit limit might not give you what you want.

Simply get your husband to apply for a new card with another provider that is offering a decent 0% deal and transfer the balance of your card.

Bear in mind there will probably be a percentage fee for this and the debt will legally become his though.
  • Thanks for the advice guys. I wasn't sure if my husband could take on my debt with the account being in my name?

I had the problem once before where they didn't give me the credit limit I wanted but it's worth trying again with the 'housewife' title.

    Cheers!

thats lying, and potentially fraudulent as she wouldnt be paying tax and they may ask for tax returns to prove her income.

yes, possibly. this country is jam packed with liars and fraudsters who realise that the best way to get on is to bend the truth a bit. i don't want to make moral judgements about a housewife telling a few porkies to get a better rate on a relatively small credit card debt :money:

    just hope hunter isnt used
  • I'm not against a few porkies to help get you out of a sticky situation, but I'd be worried I'd get asked for all sorts of paperwork to prove it. I think I'll try one's that take family income into account if I can find any and hope that works.

Ahh I remember the days when I worked and they were throwing money at me! now I'm just a meagre 'home person' still, it'll be funny watching them kiss my a$$ when they see a wage going back in my account again!
