Floor tiles on wall?

I need to tile the bathroom - is there any reason not to use floor tiles on the walls as well, and if so, what type of ahesive/grout would be best? (Sorry if it's a stupid question!)Thanks
I love a nice juicy "kebab"...

I had the same question yesterday when I was looking for new bathroom tiles. The advice we were given in the tile shop (and they seemed to know what they were talking about) was that it wouldn't be a problem.
Floor tiles are stronger and thus generally heavier than wall tiles, but as long as you're wall is strong enough you should be fine. The chap did say it may be slightly dodgy on a partition wall though - all our walls are solid brick so not a problem for us.
You couldn't do the reverse - ie. putting wall tiles on the floor - as they wouldn't cope with the extra abuse.
This is the advice we were given - hope it's accurate and that it helps!0 -
:j My walls are solid, too, so that sounds good
Thanks.
Did you get any advice on adhesive/grout?I love a nice juicy "kebab"...0 -
In Most cases you can use them with no problems at all.
Check out the Technical specifications for the weight limit of Natural stone on certain substrates Here
For someone to be able to recommend a suitable adhesive they will need to know what the tiles are made from ie. Porcelain or natural stone?0 -

I hate to differ I was given some tiles to tile my kitchen floor and it turned out they were wall tiles, I put them down anyway and they've been down now for 10 years with no problems0 -

No Need to be sorry
BAL adhesives get recommended a lot in the forums that I go in, I think you can get them at most Tile shops.
It is best to ask the tile shop, which adhesive would be best for your particular application, it will depend what the floor substrate is, ie. concrete or ashphalt etc.0 -
