  • P.S. Any of the Scottish people know Glen Clova? Any suggestions of where to stay? H2B's family are having a get together there in June. Glen Clova hotel is all booked, and we don't fancy sharing the dorms in the bunkhouse. It's going to be a very long trek there for a weekend from Swindon, and we'll have to find someone to feed the cat and chickens (as we expect to have bantams by then)! If they decide on another family reunion after this, I think we'll suggest Swindon as a nice venue...

why is it when you need a bill you cant find it?? Trying to find my water bill to see if i pay over 10 or 12 months, as my council tax is over 10, so what i have budgeted to pay in march and April I am going to pay off debt and i want to do the same with the water which would be an extra 200 quid, usually i fritter it away on junk.
My CT is 'free' in Feb and April. Water is over 12 months, both for me (meter) and DD (rates)

I also made my own colslaw the other day OMG i have been paying a rediculous amount of money for something that is so cheap and easy to make and tastes so much nicer. It wont be bought again.

Yep I sometimes think they add shredded tyres because it tastes like rubber smells if that makes sense.

Good afternoon, never managed to catch up this morning.

(Hermum - post 1 handy links section has a link to free spreadsheets)

Thanks for link to homemade deodorant! Very handy and looks relatively simple, although I'm not sure where I'd lay my hands on any coconut oil. I'm still using the rock salt, can't believe how long these things last!

Glad to see so many of you sticking with your budgets. It does get easier the longer you keep going and the first 3 months are usually the hardest. It'll become second nature to you with practice but there's always something new to learn.

Sorry, catch you all later, visitors arrived.

Afternoon ... just about to start work, but I managed to post my amazon sale - used a large 1st class stamp I had hanging around, and I'll receive £2.93, so thats a good'un. Mind you, cos I don't feel well today, I didn't get a cert. of posting, I just used the local box, so if anything goes wrong, I'm creek-up-paddle, as they say. Don't mind too much today, at least its gone out.

Been turned down for the community care grant, so caring for my granddaughter to stop them putting her into foster care, is not care in the community? No its becuase I am on the wrong type of ESA, apparantly if I was on Income Based I would be, but as I am on Contribution based, I am not. so it boils down to the fact that I had worked all my life and so I an not entitled to. But if I had been sitting on the benefit trail all my life I would be!!!! I am hopping mad.
so I have got to get the budget back on track as I have been turned down for all the funding in every direction at the moment.!

On the plus side a no spend day today, and my Mum has given me a few quid to go towards the next lot of logs that I urgently need.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Just my desiel that will be on capital one then get paid off on the 15th-18th, not sure exact date it gets cleared.
