Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I've at last read all the posts, took me 3 days on and off...phew! Nothing amazing to add, but something so funny..

I got up to make a cuppa before coming back to the forum, when I heard my cat growl in the sitting room. I went in to see her sitting on the sofa where I'd left my laptop, pawing it and growling away, her nose on the screen. I turned it round and saw....Brighton belle's avatar!!! :rotfl:

1st of all the throw needs to be 100% cotton so that it wil take dye and not a polycotton mix. Purple dye will come out purple if original item is white. I'm not sure what orange + purple will make (possible a nondescript mud colour). You could try buying a dye remover which you run through the washing machine with it 1st. It won't turn the item white but may help reduce the orangyness. Yes you can def buy machine dyes and I have done it often in the past - you have to add in 500g of salt to fix the colour but that will all be in the instructions.
Finally, nothing vetured, nothing gained - you hate the throw, but you risk the waste of dye money...let us know if you go for it!

jbt - really excited to read of you now SAHM status:T:j

SF - well done on passing thse tests:T

EDIT : Sparrer - that is brilliant, rofl

Arrrrrrgh!! Just realised I have to make a VERY urgent phone call tomorrow......

Watching C4, and there's just been an advert about Road Tax - which reminded me that mine's not arrived. Went back and checked my email - ordered at 11:50pm on 17th Jan, and says should arrive within 5 working days (so it should have been here by last weekend) with advice to phone if it hasn't.

Looks likely I won't have it by the end of the month now, so not sure how I'm fixed legally as I have paid for it

My insurance and MOT come up for renewal late July/early August, so they're safely on the system for my Road Tax (end January).

I actually got a 6 months road tax at one point to split them for financial reasons - but it has also meant I can get my road tax on-line. Worked fine for me last year, so a little frustrated it's not gone as smoothly this time around :o

    Hi,

It is possible to buy washing machine dye, try the habadashery on the market or any fabric/craft associated shop. Whether the colour will take properly is dependant on the type of matieral and how dark the present colour is ... although pre-whitener is available to buy too.
