Re Sparklebox - the warning that our LEA gave was about the toolbar - nothing about a chatroom. Well before the media got hold of the story there were worries about the toolbar it makes you download to access some of the content. Anyway lots of people are happy with it but think twice before you use the toolbar. I fear this is way off topic so lets get back to being frugal and happy.
We can discuss things and be happy surely and I think the reason Natalie brought it up was to comment on free worksheets for her children..very frugal I'd say. :rotfl:
We are all in different circumstances..often I can't join in with conversations because I have nothing to contribute but its always interesting to read.

OK, I'm PMTing and overreacting to the slightest thing at the moment so I might have misunderstood - the free worksheets are fab on Sparklebox - I agree and a fantastic way to save teachers time. My comment was to warn people about downloading the toolbar because it's not known what it can do to your PC. I don't subcribe to the peado hysteria but having something on your PC that you don't know exactly what it does from a website that is owned and run by someone into things like that is dodgy. Anyway I'm probably making drama where there is none but I wasn't being nasty when I wrote that - just a bit concerned!
Just wanted to add - have a look at https://www.primaryresources.co.uk too. There are some great things for children to do on there as well for all you mums out there xThere are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0 -

Haha, I don't know what is wrong with me at the moment - I'm so highly strung. I spent the whole shift yesterday being eveil to anyone who dared walk into the shop. Its a good thing I have resigned otherwise there would be a p45 waiting for me due to customer complaints the next time I went in!
I've just had a go at my housemate - who is permanently skint but has bought a 50" telecreen for his room - and then filled the bin up with polystyrene and cardboard (despite us having a recycle bin) so I can't put the kitchen rubbish in the outside bin. So now we are going to have to have a week's worth of kitchen rubbish rotting and stinking out the whole house, or muggings is going to have to put the bags in my car and drive to the tip
Then I got back to my room, looked at the news and cried for half an hour straight over the poor poor people in Haiti.I need to sort myself out and quickly. I might just go back to bed!

Morning all,
Off to Aldi in a bit to do some store cupboard shopping. Just a comment on the F&V I usually shop at local greengrocers and find it considerably cheaper than the supermarkets so if you have one (or a market) nearby it's probably worth a look. Same with Butchers too for a lot of things, especially bacon which is far far better than any supermarket bacon and compares well for price.
Lilac Pixie have you got some support with your DLA appeal? CAB or your local disabilty support group can often help. It's often a matter of knowing the right way to say something. I've supported people claiming DLA and sometimes their (DLA) decisions baffle me!!
This afternoon will probably be batch baking and some decluttering.
Take care everyone xOfficial DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Well I managed another whole weekend without spending.
Got stuck into some jungle clearance for a few hours this afternoon, tackling thistles as tall as me and I'm bitten and scratched to pieces. Still it was good progress I can now see the path again and it doesn't look too shabby if you look from a distance. The compost heap is as high as the fence.
Apart from that, just the usual Sunday stuff; roast a piece of beef in the slow cooker and for the second weekend in a row I cleared ALL of the washing and ironing. Wow!! :T
XSpender commiserations / congratulations on your redundancy. I am pleased yours has a silver lining and isn't causing you distress. I often find that people who are made redundant, end up moving onto better or at least more satisfying things.Mortgage

PS COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC LOL
I am back from work- thanks for the website CHIKA - i have 3 children under 6 and work around 18-20 hours a week so i feel very bad about my lack of time spent doing educational stuff. I also feel carp as some of the kids in my DS class have tutors BUT my son is far from behind and very bright. I don't usually get dragged into it all as my kids will do what they want. Who is to know if those kids on G&T or mega ahead won't get into drugs at 15.......... i just think at 5 it is too much BUT it is also so easy to get sucked in!
Mental note: wear ipod on school run and ignore ALL parents PMSLDFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debtsJust to see which month

Well, car boot sale was a bit rubbish - cold weather means there were manily dealers selling the dregs of their stock. I bough 4 toy soldiers for my son at a cost of 40p so he's happy! :rotfl:
The went to the new Tescos Extra in Chesterfield. It is enormous and my idea of hell - open 24 hours (not on Sunday but before 10am you can browse ). It's like an entire village - sells everything under one roof. I was like "get me out of here" but we needed milk and nappies.
Anyway, managed to escape without losing my child, only buying 4 pts of milk (40p dearer than Aldi!), nappies on special, some whoopsied fresh peppers and a pair of slippers for my son reduced from £7 to £2.25.
Off for a lie down now as I can't walk for more than a couple of hours before I'm in pain. This pregnancy is getting the better of me but the time's passing and the end result will be so worth it.
Daddy has taken our little one to the park and the house is quiet = bliss!0
