    NSD for me yesterday.

Today I had a dentist appointment so to kill time I wandered into our local charity shop.

I came out with a brand new with tags in my size Triumph bra which is soooo comfy.
    £3 - oringinally £24

A brand new with tags, very pretty nightdress by La Marquise lingerie which sounds dead posh but I looked on internet and my nightie could have cost about £7.99 - it was £3.

A couple of books which I kind of regret buying and are not worth anything on Amazon so I'll just have to read them!

Nyk - sorry it was a while back I noticed your comment re Bernadine Lawrence book. Would absolutely love to see a sample menu from your home - just one day's which you have managed on £3. It would be so fascinating.:)
    Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
Taking part in Sealed Pot No.819/2011
    Only essentials on Ebay/Amazon

  • Not a no spend day here

£96.63 for boiler repairs and service
£13 on groceries inc lots of cereals from £land
£15.10 on stuff at the Boots sale

positives though got 6 presents , enough cereals for 6 weeks and a warm house !

Also ordered some seed potatoes and a few seeds but this is to be paid for with my £2 coins so not part of this challenge will need some compost later in the week if i get chance to sort the shed and greenhouse out. The £2 savings i strated in september last year as i was ed up buying compost aand bits and bobs i have about 80 of them so i think i have it covered ...........and then some! ................hmm what gadget do i need??.....

    Evening,
You guys are all so busy!!!

I have finished my second day at Uni and I'm finding myself generally more organised 'house' wise cause I'm making sure I leave everything tidy before I go in the morning.
I'm also managing half an hour on the cross trainer, making lunches, having breakfast and putting a load of washing on.
It also helps that I'm making sure the children keep on top of their chores too.
Here's hoping I can keep it up.

I still need to do a menu plan. I've only got a half day tomorrow so I'll try and get it done then as well as the bits of 'homework' I've been given so far.

We've got a veggie chicken style bake thingy from approved Foods for tea tonight with mash, veg and gravy. I also need to bake something for the children's lunches.

I love the £2 coin idea but I just don't use cash enough to ever have any!
The budget has taken a bit of a hammering this month but hopefully now I'm pretty stocked up it'll start to even itself out.

    Have a good evening everyone.

    Hello Frugalites

It's been a quite couple of days in Chikaland. I've seen a couple of teaching jobs I really want to apply for to start in September so my energy is going to be focused on doing those applications - cross your fingers for me.

I'm not eating at the moment, doing a liquid diet, normally quite expensive but for free. My cousin is paying as long as I do it with her... I came very close to cracking just now when my housemates ordered pizza. It's just not frugal to buy it though especially as I can make it myself for for less than 50p!

Took my car for the dreaded MOT and despite its age (16 years!!!) they only found a few things wrong so it should be less than £100 to sort which is a big relief. It's been granted a reprieve. On the way back I popped into a couple of charity shops and managed to buy an N0rth Face coat and waterproof trousers for.... wait for it.... £2 :D I'm so pleased. I needed to buy some for a uni field trip I'm going on in a couple of weeks. I love charity shops I bough £150 worth of kit for £2 and it will be ebayed as soon as I've done with it. Happy days!

The frugal savings on the car and waterproofs are much needed as I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I have a weekend job that I really can't stand. It's in a shop, the manager is currently off sick and we are being looked after by another manager who is a nightmare. I got a call today at 1pm demanding I go into work at 3pm and then much moaning when I refused. I'm seriously thinking about quitting - I have another job and I can use the extra time to do more studying (or web browsing!) Have you quite your job and stepped up frugalness to make up for it? I think i could make it work but its a scary thought!
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.

Was naughty and got £2 worth of snacks at work. But after work I did a little MrT top up shop and got £15 worth of groceries for £1.73 due to whoopsies and survey luncheon vouchers.
Sowed (sp.) seeds for tomato, jalopeno, pepper, chilli and sweet Romano today that I'll grow on my window sill as last year. Got my iPod ready to be sent off tomorrow.
Might go out for a drink later to celebrate one of our students passing her viva. Only got £52 left till next Friday but that should be fine. Have a birthday party on Sat and might go snowboarding but I won't need much money for anything else.
Might try that simple fruit cake recipe with choc chips as mentioned below the recipe.... Mmhhhhhh
