Please count me in for this challenge!!
PHILSBIRD
Im an 'in mega debt' newbie, and this looks just the thing, to help me on my way to becoming debt free. Thank you..... happy frugal 2010 to you all0 -
Nuala - I don't cook often on the fire, but it's handy for emergencies like power cuts. It does for heating stuff through, doing basic camping-style stuff in tin foil. I wouldn't risk sending a constant stream of steam up the chimney, just in case. If it's for boiling stuff, I'd drag out the BBQ and sit the camping kettle on it. I've even cooked pasta on a BBQ

Good luck with your plans for 2010 SFT and TTDB
I am about to drag out the 'magic' book to see what progress I've made after 2009. Only then will I be able to start planning the 2010 aims and aspirations. Catch everyone tomorrow when I'll have had a think about frugalplans.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I use a piece of screen capture software (King King Capture, which is free)
While on the screen I want to 'catch', I press <Ctrl>K and my cursor changes from a line or arrow to 'cross-hairs'
I then position this in one corner of what I want to catch, and hold down the left mouse button while moving the cursor to the opposite corner (to select the area)
When I let go of the mouse button, what I've selected pops up in a new (King Kong) window. Then it's a case of saving it out (as a jpg) by clicking on the first icon on the top bar of that window (looks like floppy discs), then deciding where to save it on my computer and what name to give it
I then log in to my Photobucket account (that's my personal choice of image hosting sites), and upload the file
My account there is then set up to give me the code I need to post the image on here (starts)
if you have a pc you should have a piece of software already on your computer that does this, its called a 'snipping tool'0 -
I am setting my target at €11,400.:o:eek: Very high I know but a lot of the costs are beyond my control like prescriptions. I hope I'll be able to shave a little off this during the year, I'm hoping that this thread will frugalise me good and proper!
I will probably juggle money between my different categories but this is what I'm working with for now!
Many thanks to Cheryl for all the helpful techy tips like how to do screenshots; I downloaded the program you linked to. :T:T:T I'll post up my budget tomorrow as the software won't let me save again today.
ETA, thanks Nyk, will stick with the spuds then!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

If you're getting regular prescriptions (for the same person), would it not benefit you to get a pre-payment certificate?NualaBuala wrote: »but a lot of the costs are beyond my control like prescriptions.
(Guess your accounts could already account for one of those rather than individual charges though

Thanks for suggestion but am in Ireland so no NHS. If I was on the dole I'd get free prescriptions but as I'm not, I fall into the private category which is subsidised to some degree in that the most you have to pay in a month is €120. If my prescription changes (and it is likely to change soon) I might end up paying less than that but for now I'm stuck with it. It's a lot but it could be worse ... I think!:DIf you're getting regular prescriptions (for the same person), would it not benefit you to get a pre-payment certificate?

NYK - yum on the clootie dumpling. Didn't make one this year, mum still has my big jam pot.
Not spent a penny yet this year
but the car fuel gauge is on red and has been since Wednesday and weekly shop has been done via Mr T's and estimate is £68.
Anyone made own burgers??? I have two junk loving kids and a husband who would eat take aways if left up to him. I've sussed chicken nuggets dicing up a chicken brest and coating in egg and breadcrumbs so next on the list is burgers. ideally with little or no meat.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000
