What to do with burnt muffins?

Options
I made some muffins last night - the apple bran ones which are in the index. My flipping recipe too (well, nicked from the GI Diet book). They are all burnt cos I "remembered" that they bake in 45 minutes. Ahem, the recipe says 20 minutes. I have dismembered one and the inside is nice, just the outside that's blackened and crunchie. What should I do with them?

Feed them to me, I'm starving enough to eat anything!

How many calories do you reckon we would work of picking the burnt bits out Snowy?
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

Racey, you know what, I think that they would be calorie neutral if we work really hard to separate the good bits from the bad bits. What a fantastic idea!

So that's the insides taken care of...but what about the black carbon shells?

    Lol!:rotfl:

I might be tempted to bin them.........however if you can salvage some of the insides, what about using that as the base of a trifle with either jelly, fruit, custard and cream - or soaking the salvaged bits in some sort of alcohol or fruit juice, then making trifle sort of thing out of that?
Best idea I can come up with at the moment, it's late, and I really don't do puddings!

dip the burnt bits in chocolate to disguise the taste (and make up for all the poor defenseless calories you destroyed :p:D )

puts thinking cap on.... Carbon, Oh yeah! would it act as an accelerator for bicarb as a fridge deoderiser?

you can add carcenogenic to your list. there was major research a while back that showed how eating burnt stuff can be (potentially) bad for you

OMG Pavlov's Dog...no! I have often eaten burnt toast, even having scraped the worst of it into the sink it's been burnt all the way through and just slapped some butter and jam on and it's not been too bad when washed down with a big slurp of tea. Didn't know about this carcinogenic research!!

I really like Anne Marie's trifle suggestion. That sounds yummy...the shells are quite thick (ahem) so the trifle might be a portion for one. Am starting to drool already...:D

    Gosh I'm newted!

6 years for me Snowy, I won't start again but also still occasionally fancy one too!

I wonder if we could smoke the burnt bits of your muffins?

At least you remembered to make yours, I put my blueberries to soak in some pomegranite juice at lunchtime... and forgot all about them :o
