Metal Dish Drainer... (do they rust?)

I think I might of done my money....

Today I bought a £10 Steel 2 layer (chrome plated) dish drainer because the plastic equivalent looked flimsy.

Do they rust??

You would not expect something that cost £10 to last indefinitely. So just replace it if it rusts. In any event it should be alright for several years with a bit of luck.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Mines 5+ years old and only has a couple of patches of rust on the joins on the underneath side.

Rust is showing for the second time!!!

I rubbed some baby oil on the first time but don't know if that is the best thing.

    Thought stainless still didn't rust.

Plastic (looks similar) is flimsy in comparison!

YES I know I only paid a tenner BUT If I knew it to rust I wouldn't have bothered!!

Stainless Steel does not rust, (unless its very cheep, in a harsh environment).

Try looking for a drainer made by franke,

The old rule applies buy cheep then expect to buy twice.

Stainless steel shouldn't rust, but if it does then it is likely to be plated mild steel.

If it is only rusting at the joints, then that is due to the weld which is not made with stainless steel rod.

i have just replaced the SS waste in my sink. it was about 20/25 yrs old. and it had completely collapsed.
modern imported metal is a bit naff. so they dont last forever.

So you've had this 5 months and it's going rusty? I'd be inclined to take it back to the shop and say it's not fit for purpose. I paid 50p for my metal drainer at a car boot sale about 3 years ago and there's no rust on it.
