Digital Camera for around £70 - advice?

I would like to ask for your help and advice on what digital camera to buy.
I don’t know much about these things and I hope this is the correct place to post this.

Basically, I am after a camera that can take basic family photos and shots of things I would like to sell on ebay etc.
I’m not after anything fancy.
What sort of mega-pixel spec would you suggest?
And power source? Someone told me to avoid getting a camera that takes AA batteries…why?

Please post up any advice and links to great deals. My budget is around £70.
Many thanks.

Ignore the number of megapixels. It's pretty much irrelevant nowadays.

Some people don't like AA batteries but personally I think they're OK. You can always use re-chargable ones and if you're out and about and the battery runs flat you can always get hold of AA's.

We bought my daughter a Fujifilm A150 for her birthday for £70. It's a decent little basic camera.

I think it's now been superceded by the A170 whoch you can pick up for £55 at warehouseexpress

Remember you'll need to budget for a memory card and possibly a case as well.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

    And £49 from Jessops.

At the £70 level I'd certainly recommend ignoring 12 megapixel cameras and go for 8 or 10 if possible.

Or for even less using Code CAMERAS8 only valid until midnight today, should reduce price to £45.08 delivered.

I like the Canon cameras, if you want very compact go for the IXUS range, if you want slightly bigger and a little more control over the picture look at the Powershot range

I've got a Canon A590 Powershot, I've all the features it has, that I can use rechargable AA's, can do really close shots with macro
