Getting £1 cheque to ICICI bank...help

Hello everyone,
I've just opened a saving account with ICICI bank. They're happy with my ID Etc.. but to complete the opening process i have to send a cheque for £1 to them. Only problem is that I don't have a cheque book. All i have is a basic 'step' account with Natwest and i don't get cheque book with this. How can I complete this process????.
thankin' you

    Hi
I am not sure, but probably you can get the cheque in a branch (they will debit your account straight away or reserve the amount).

I think somebody with better knowledge of basic accounts will correct me if I am wrong ...

Maybe you can ask your branch to update your account to one that has a cheque facility. My mum had the same problem with opening icici, in the end we had to upgrade to another account within the same bank. HTH, goodluck :)
No one said it was gonna be easy!

    Grumbler,

I don't believe that your suggestion won't work as ICICI want to see a cheque from the right bank, with the sort code and account number that the account is to be linked to.

It's a bit of an annoying process they adopt, TBH, as more and more people will tend to have accounts without cheque books as time goes on.
  • So,
went into natwest, asked for a cheque to be drawn on my step account for £1 or something that i could post to ICICI bank that had my a/c no and sort code on it. They couldn't do it so i had to open a current account with them so that i could have a cheque book. The only difference in accounts is i can now apply for an overdraf (which i don't want/need). Now all I have an extra search on my credit file and a second a/c with natwest that comes with no benefits ( is a cheque book). Should have my cheque book by next week and then i can start moving my £££'s from natwest step a/c interest rate of .1% to my ICICI.

But first i will have to call ICICI and tell them that i want to change my nominated linked a/c because i have a new a/c number (with cheque book).

    Oh well,
