Ok Folks, I tried this & got my free album, but I did have to put my card details in - it's just like the promotion that ran before Xmas. The payment screen does state that it will cost you £0.00.
I used my works email address & got my free album, the trick is to make sure that the subscription expries. You can check this by going to 'My Account' & then 'Manage your payment account' (Visit Sky Payments) - once at the payments site, click 'Subscription' in the top navigation - this page will list all your subscriptions with Sky & the Sky Songs subscription should be due to expire within 30 days with no automatic renewal. I guess it's best to make a note of the expiry date & login to make sure it does expire at that time.
Here are the T&Cs regarding payment / subscription which might help:
7. Termination, Suspension or Restriction of Sky Songsa. If you have opted for Sky Songs to be automatically renewed you can terminate at any time by giving us 24 hours notice before the end of your Subscription Period. You can do this by:Hope that helps.i. logging into the "My Account" section on the Website and clicking on "Manage your Payment Account" and "Subscriptions" and cancelling your subscription; orb. We can terminate your use of Sky Songs at any time by giving you 30 days' notice.
ii. telephoning Sky Songs Customer Service on 08442 410 058.
You will have access to Sky Songs for the remainder of your Subscription Period so you must continue to pay us your Subscription Payments for this period. As you pay your Subscription Payments in advance this means that you will not get a refund for your use of Sky Songs during this period.
c. We may immediately suspend, remove, disable access or restrict, without liability, your use of all or any of Sky Songs:i. where reasonably necessary for technical or operational reasons;d. We may reasonably refuse any order at our discretion.
ii. if you have missed any payments you owe to us, or your payments are outstanding, for example if your payment method fails;
iii. if you break any of these conditions;
iv. if we consider that you have committed or may be committing any fraudulent activity against us or against any other person or organisation through your or their use of Sky Songs;
v. if you, or anyone you authorise to deal with us on your behalf, act in a way towards our staff or agents which we reasonably consider to be inappropriate.

I just requested to download an album with a dormant account that I registered when they did their last promotion. The new offer kicked-in & showed that I would get another month for free.
Checking my aubscription page, it now states £6.49 expires 05/Feb-2010, so I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to get charged £6.49 for what I just downloaded, or if it's just stating what I should have paid if it were not free. it'll be interesting to see...
The offer code for anyone wishing to try it is:

For the free album download, try and choose an album with more than 10 tracks. Even though you only have 10 track credits, an album with 15 tracks will come free all for your 10 credits.0

I got 10 tracks free in December, they have just emailed me:
It looks like your Sky Songs subscription has recently ended. But the music doesn't have to stop here.
It's really easy to renew so you can continue to enjoy over 5 million songs to listen to and download anytime you want. Just sign into your Sky Songs account today and follow the easy on-screen steps to renew. All your details including playlists, preferences and account history are saved and waiting for you now - it couldn't be easier.
Remember, when you renew you will receive 10 download credits, so keep reading for some inspiration on how to spend them.
So looks like we can renew and start again!0 -

but that means you have to start paying for a subscription to get the extra 10 free tracks?0 -
When I log in, it says I can have another month free.
But it insists I enter a credit card (which I don't want to)...0
