Agency lieing about the number of job vacancies

Similar answer to my previous reply. It would be worth the consultants time to advertise fake vacancies to again get people that are interested in the job to register with the agency.[/QUOT
So that they can use the candidates to place into jobs
Depending what sector you are in the turnaround time for vacancies can be extremely fast.
Example:
A client calls on a monday afternoon with 4 positions that need filled. Presuming this is an ongoing relationship and the consultant knows the client requirement they may set up say, 4 interviews with pre-registered candidates on the tuesday afternoon. Then they advertise the role.
Now on the Tuesday 3 out of the four are successful. That leaves one position. Say 20 peolpe have applied for overnight. The consultant screens and interviews suitable candidates on the wed and sends them to interview on the thurs and the remaining vacancy is filled. When you see the job and call about it on the thurs, of course the consultant will tell you the role has been filled, but there may be a requirement in the future.......they know their client will need this role filled again.
The job is not fake, it will be that if you are pre-registered, you may have a better chance of securing an interview next time.0 -
And it does cost the agency money to advertise...job boards aren't free!!0

im not sure but there used to be an agency near us (they also had many offices in the region ) and they claimed they had said no of jobs and theyd get people to come in a register
then they said ring up or come in each day after 4pm t to see what work they have for next day id go in and they put your name on the list and they siad wel weve got such and such a client and he needs 20 people tommorow and when the put your name down on the list there was about 5 people on it usually no more they say they'd ring you then next morining about start times and next morning no phone calls so you ring them and they would say oh jobs full but come back in later etc
now i thought it may have been me but speaking to others who were registered with said agency they do exactly the same thing
now it turns out the goverment were giving the agency money for putting a certain amount of people on that list to get jobs but they wernt providing the work so the money stopped and the company went bankruptReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. That was a really bad agency that you were with.
As I've mentioned before the agency will make money from YOU.
If it's a perm contract it will be a % of your salary and if a temp contract they will make x amount per hour you work, paid by the employer.
So, it's totally in your your own interests to research the agency and expect them to work on your behalf. But also to remember that the consultants can't magic jobs out of thin air, or to put you in a position if the client has said no to your CV.0 -

They recommend people to report such agencies to BERR.
Coincidentally, the agency named in the BBC Scotland report as having high standards is the specialist agency in Stirling that I work with.
