Wanted to record and save a radio show that was broadcast over xmas - I can play it on the "Listen Again" area of their web site but cannot find a way to record it. I am sure i was able to do this in the past, maybe the BBC have decided to stop this because of copyright etc although it does seem you are able to record TV shows to view offline - Anyone know how to record radio shows ? Thanks

Hi
If the radio show is still available on 'Listen again' then you can use a program called get_iplayer to download it as an mp3 file.
This is the link:-
http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer
It's a Linux program, but there's a version for Windows too.
If you only want the one radio show, pm me the details if you like.

Thx for that - have downloaded it but looks a bit complicated - seems to open up an old MS-Dos type window - is that right ?0

Yes, that's right.
With Linux we run the program from the command line.
I suppose with Windows you will get the Dos window.
I think this is how to use it in Windows:-
Typeget_iplayer[STRIKE].exe[/STRIKE] --type radio > radio.txt
That should create a file on your hard drive called radio.txt which contains all the radio shows.
Each show has its own number.
Open up the file with notepad.
When you see the show you want use this command:-get_iplayer[STRIKE].exe[/STRIKE] --get 12345
(Use the correct number instead of 12345)
EDIT
Don't use .exe in the commands.
These are the correct commands to use:-get_iplayer --type radio > radio.txt
get_iplayer --get 12345

You could try Freecorder.

That's another way to do it.

Very true. I've only ever used it for live streaming radio.
However the OP was struggling with get_iplayer and Freecorder is incredibly easy to use.
Not ideal if you want to regularly record iPlayer but OK for a one off. It's my problem, it's my problem
