180 min (3hr) blank dvds

does anyone know if it is possible to get 180 min blank dvds and where i could get them from.

Theres no such thing
Dvds come in SINGLE or DUAL layer
Single (Which is probably 99% of them) are 4.7Gb in size
Dual are 8.5 Gig in size (And way more expensive, not to mention problematic at times)

Not sure if theres a maximum 'run time' on dvd players but in my own experience you can just about get a decent looking 3 hours out of a single layer dvd (Dependant on the program used)

hmm. There's no such animal as a 180min DVD. DVDs come as either single or dual layer (4.7Gb and 9.4Gb capacity respectively) and the amount of video you get on them depends upon the video quality.

A further complication is that there are multiple standards for recordable DVDs - the main ones being DVD-R(W) , DVD+R(W) and DVD-RAM

For us to give a proper answer, can you tell us what you want these for i.e. what "machine" they will be used in.

If they are going in a standard DVD recorder set top variety, you can fit, depending on quality from 1 to 6 hours on a 4.7 Gb disc, but as aliEnRik, has pointed out three hours is about the max with decent quality, 4 hours may be acceptable, and the slp 6hour modes are sub VHS. For camcorders, the small discs can usually only fit an hour on them in LP mode.

Dvdram tend to hold more than DVD but I agree there is no such thing as 180 minutes recording on dvd, only what setting the camera, dvdrecorder has, ie SP,LP modes etc
