Oven overheating

We have a built-in electric oven and occasionally it overheats (to the point where the whole thing cuts off!). It appears that the thermostat doesn't "click" off once it gets to the temperature we want. Two questions:
1. Does this sound like it's a duff thermostat? I've found one on espares which suits our oven
2. Is it something I could fit myself with some basic tools (and maybe some less basic ones borrowed from work
)?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yes it will be the stat. You probably only need a Phillips No2 screwdriver. Just be very careful as the stat copper copper coil can be easily damaged.0
