hi All
Our boiler has went down this morning. Not a nice feeling getting up at 5 for work and it is colder inside than it is outside.
From what we can gather there seems to be no gas getting into it, altho the gas cooker is working fine.
Anyone any suggestions on what could be wrong and if so how much roughly to get it fixed.
The boiler is about 20 years old so probably we are best to get a new combi. Anew combi has been on the plan for years now, but you know what its like, wait till it breaks, but when it does break your skint.
All help appriciated
Thanks

How do you know there is no gas reaching it? If the gas supply is at fault then you need a registered Gas Safe engineer to sort it out. Not really possible for anyone to give a diagnosis based on what you have stated (make/model?), but no reason to assume that the boiler is not repairable if parts are still available. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

hi
Sorry should have put we think no gas is reaching it.
When we try to put the pilot light on it doesnt go on, even when we use a match to do it.
Dont think it is the gas at fault as the gas cooker is working fine
model of boiler is a ideal mexico super 2 gas boiler0 -
You should still get someone in. BTW the Mexico will probably go on for another 20 years and in terms of reliability will still beat a modern combi hands down. It may not be that efficient (SEDBUK wise) but the additional energy bill will not ofset the additional maintenance costs you will find yourself facing.
