I need some help. For the past 2 years I've pretty much lived under a rock, not claiming money of any sort trying to sort myself out but its to a point where I think I've just bottled too much in and need to talk to someone professional. I've also taken a confidence knock after having left my life behide, I went to see my doc last week and he told me to call connexions, I'm 19, thats where hes suppose to send people under a certain age now. In these rough times we're all having financially troubles I think I need to start giving my dad some money, can I claim anything from what I've said above? Connexions sent me out a form to fill out and I've already sent it back yesterday, I need professional help as I said as in talk to someone and abit of income if its possible, can someone please advise me.

i think what you need in this case is a job.
Perhaps a visit to your local connections office would be a good place to start.
They will be able to give you advice and help with a jobsearch/placement etc.0 -
You're at the top end for Connexions so they may well not see you so I'd make an appointment with Nextstep, who offer careers guidance to adults.
On a financial level, you need to contact the Jobcentre to sign on for unemployment benefits which - if you're actively seeking work - will give you a bit over £50 per week, enabling you to contribute to the household.0 -
You will not get any money backdated from any time I don't think at all, basically any idiot could come in off the street saying that.
You only get "paid" from the date you actually put the claim in though in some cases it can be backdated for two-three weeks this sends it on a bureaucracy merry-go-round, backdating it 2-3 years would just be lunacy."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0 -
I've got an apprenticeship to attend in feb, as i said i've tried to deal with my issues by facing my demons but i think i need to talk to someone professional, maybe that way i can get to the bottom of problems i feel i'm having. connexions is the next step as you say which i've taken but what i'm asking is if theres a way of seeing someone professional on the nhs and maybe get some income while i'm sorting myself out wit hthe professional. i'm not looking to claim from 2years ago, i made the decision of trying to deal with it myself and not claiming, whats changed is i think its made it worse when i should of gone to speak to someone before.0

You should tell your doctor any concerns you have and she/he will be able to tell you of any other help available....i think i need to talk to someone professional, maybe that way i can get to the bottom of problems i feel i'm having.
You have no chance of claiming from two years ago. Any claim will count from the day you make contact. As suggested by other posters, you need to contact your nearest Jobcentreplus (I think you can claim online so you could do that today).i'm looking to claim from 2years agoTorgwen..........

There may be a bit of a wait but your doctor could refer you for counselling. You have taken a brave step by coming on here and asking for help. You clearly want to move on with your life and stand on your own two feet. I hope you have a good gp who can help you find the care you need and get you back on track.0

sorry fran, i ment i'm not looking to claim for the past 2 years.
my docs alright, both men who i can go to see are down to earth people, he did tell me about the long way of doing it which is what your saying pupsicola, i've sent the self assement form back to connexions, ill hopefulyl get a reply by the end of the week or next week, if not the doc did say go back to him. can i make any claims while being treated? as i said i've been living under a rock, bottling in my personal issues leaving my life behide which includes going out which i was doing alot. my dad thinks im at war with someone when im really at war with myself and my mates think i've boyd them off but thats the least of my worries, to tell you the truth its little issues which i think have grown and i dont know how to deal with them now. im going say what they exactly are but i don;t think there impossible to sort out.0 -
Hi Boi
Have you considered contacting the Prince's Trust? They run courses all over the UK for young, unemployed people aged 16-25. These courses are free and can help with motivation and confidence building.
Have a look at one of the links below. The first one is for people in England (click on the links under 'Courses' to see what's on offer), the second for people in Scotland and the third for people in Wales). The England link tells you what the courses entail.

BrionaIf I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0
