    Don't know about the plastic ones i've got a load of the wire ones out in the garage and i thought i'd try and make some sort of sculpture as a garden ornament with them.

    Your experiences may vary, but I found charity stores didn't want them, so might be worth telephoning before taking a massive pile in with you one day only to find nobody wants them.

    I got rid of them in the end by sticking them in a box at the end of the driveway with a help yourself tag.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but this thread is about reusing and recycling old hangers, not buying new ones!

    Check your local tesco as i saw other day that my local had a coat hanger recycling box

    Tesco Elmers End have one. I took in about a hundred!
    I don't accept new ones now but mine stem from the days of teenagers buying and accumulating them for years.

    If you can't recycle them then you should look into donating them to thrift stores. I'm sure they can always use hangers for all of the clothes given to them.
  • There is a company in Cheshire called 300 Recycling that recycle plastic hangers, you can post them to them or drop them in, if you google them there's a bit of info on their website about it (300recycling.com)
