pennies2 pounds - Do a wanted item on freecycle if you're a member. Also ask friends and family with older children, you gradually accumulate hangers that are too small to be useful, they've probably got spares hanging around in their wardrobes.

Not really relevant to the OP, but I need some baby clothes hangers! . Any idea where I can get some without paying a fortune;)

Whereabouts are you? I may be able to help.
  • local hospitals also accept coat hangers sometimes (worth asking a nurse if you know one). I know when I was in for an operation the hanging cupbards hardly had any left, so when was recuperating i took a big bag full in, and they were most grateful.

    woas.

I'm sure there will be people around who are desperate for them. When I was a student, mine were stolen from the trunk room in the holidays! I can't understand how you manage to end up with so many as I have the opposite problem on the rare occasions that I buy clothes from a "proper" shop (as opposed to buying them second hand) so I'm sure if you ask around you can find people who need them. I believe some people even buy coathangers! (or at least I've seen them being sold in shops so I presume people buy them.)
  • Our local Tesco (Grimsby) have just installed a coat hanger collection point! I've already taken in 3 carrier bags, result!!!!
  • how many yellow johnsons coathangers are there in the world? :) xxx
