I know I am going to be accused of being a moany old biddy again, but please look at the 2007 accounts of this charity:
http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/registeredcharities/ScannedAccounts/Ends02/0001037402_ac_20070331_e_c.pdf
Out of an income of £724k, they only spent £141k on charitable activity. The rest was spent on fundraising costs, management and administration.
(They have failed to make annual returns for 3 years and, although the 2008 accounts have been submitted to the CC, they are not on the website for some reason.)
I dont know how much your daughter has to raise, but it occurs to me that it would be more efficient for her to donate the money direct to your local Phab or a similar group.
Annual returns have been submitted now for 2009-2010
but 2008 appears to still be missing.0 -
2008 accounts show income £655k, amount spent on equipment £166k - a vast improvement at a third. However the 2009 accounts show income of £631k, expenditure on equipment £351k, only one fifth of income.
Compare Whizz Kidz which spends about half its income on equipment (still not brilliant, but better).£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -

How does £351K work out to be one fifth of £631K?
You really do go to great lengths to get your point across.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
Sorry, I edited it so many times, I lost the thread. It should of course read 'half'.
I go to great lengths as most people seem unable to read a balance sheet or set of accounts in order to make informed choices about their charity giving. Maybe I should just stop and let you get on with it.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0 -

Its ok Fengirl, I did read the post and realise what you meant, I'm grateful to you because you made me aware of checking out the Charity Commission website if I had doubts. I know you are relentless in making sure of stuff. Anyone can type info in the wrong order. Please dont stop, I for one am grateful.0
