Personal long term savings

I am 24 and originally from Edinburgh, my plan had been to buy a flat within the £120-140K price range however because of job security uncertainty I moved to London this year in January. Fortunately in the process I took a huge pay rise. But, since moving here I have discovered that buying somewhere would require a lot more capital for a deposit then in Edinburgh!!! Also because of the current climate I am in no rush to buy.
I don’t mind saving, however I do have a tendency to dip in for summer holidays etc so a limited access or fixed term account but one which would allow regular deposits but without withdraws. Does anyone know of any accounts with suitable criteria for say either 10 years or until £50K had been invested.
Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Investec High 5 sounds like it was made for you!

25k minimum deposit and then you can put in as much as you like as and when!

But 3 months notice to withdraw... and pays a guaranteed average of the top 5 accounts so hassle free!
  • Thanks for your reply but unfortunately I don't have £25k yet. Actually closer to £7.5K. :(

woops, sorry chap misread and thought you had 50k already.

You could lock the 7.5k up into a 1 year bond (I am assuming you have used your tax free ISA allowance? If not then DO IT)

Then open a regular saver with Barclays you can save up to £250 a month I think the Principality also do one.
