Data Protection Act

In my effort to realise how much I have squandered on credit card interest, I wrote to the company asking for the figures (under the Data Protection Act).
It replied asking for £2.50 per statement which would total over £100!
Does anyone know if they are able to do this as I thought there was a much smaller charge?
Any info. would be much appreciated.

I think there is a maximum charge of around £10 for as many statements as you need.0

I wonder if they thought you were about to start a 'reclaim charges' action?DFW Nerd 0350

If you ask for duplicate statements they can charge what they want. If you write to their data protection officer you can ask for all the data they hold on you and they can charge a nominal fee, most charge £10 but I imagine the max these days is probably round £15 but it will be a mess of data and not nicely laid out statements etcAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

If you undertake a standard Subject access request under S.7 of the DPA then the company will need to provide all account data including transactional history,.
They also have a duty to ensure that it is provided in "an intelligible format" however this does not necessarily mean duplicate statements, and they are more like to just produce a data print off.
However I undertook this process with capital One recently and they did provide duplicate statements for the £10 GBP. It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Grumbler, I just want to show myself how much money I have wasted over the years on interest (I rarely paid on time!) which I hope will prevent me slipping in to bad habits again.
I'm sure there is a clinical term for this kind of therapy.
