I have done this for years, saving my £2 coins as rainy day money. My rule to myself was I couldn't ask for them but if I was given any in my change I was not allowed to spend them again (or hand them back) on occasions it does make a small purchase very expensive but you pays your money you takes your chance.

Did you know that £2 coins fit into a 35mm film camera tub exactly - each tub holds 18 coins and when it was full I would seal it and hide it in a box no-one else knew about.

When I didn't just have a rainy day but monsoon weather in my life I had to reach for the rainy day money and had amassed a massive £1800 in £2 coins. I hadn't even realised they had built up to such an amount.

    Go for it everyone
    that really is amazing.
  • DH just handed me one he got last night. Most of mine come via him as he gets them in fares.

Hi all, another for me, £20 already and it's only the 11th :j
Thanks for the thread I would never have started without it. :D

Must decide what it is going to be for, I am tempted to pay off debt but it's been so long since a holiday if I could save some money we might actually get to go for a couple of days. What do you all think. Pay off some debt or a mini UK break ? ...........
  • hi all another 1 went in the pot last night, and have got to go to morrisons later so might have a couple more hopefully lol :j
