I have done this for years, saving my £2 coins as rainy day money. My rule to myself was I couldn't ask for them but if I was given any in my change I was not allowed to spend them again (or hand them back) on occasions it does make a small purchase very expensive but you pays your money you takes your chance.
Did you know that £2 coins fit into a 35mm film camera tub exactly - each tub holds 18 coins and when it was full I would seal it and hide it in a box no-one else knew about.
When I didn't just have a rainy day but monsoon weather in my life I had to reach for the rainy day money and had amassed a massive £1800 in £2 coins. I hadn't even realised they had built up to such an amount.
Go for it everyoneRainbowLiberty0 -
That's amazing mheymans....well done on saving that much. It's nice to have a little bit of justin'casey money. I'll be happy if I can save enough to buy a dishwasher in the next year :-)Starting again and working towards our new df life!A very proud forces wife0

wow I agree mheymans - what a lovely suprise. I am doing rubbish at this challenge as haven't had any yet but seen as I am doing NSDs and have had 7/10 already this doesn't give much opportunity! I am also doing £365 in 365 days which is going ok and sealed pot so I live in hope when I actually do venture to the shops!SPC 2011 #758 - no target just a surprise #20 - £365 in 365 days 4/365 Olympic chal #46 - debt free by July 2012 £6739/£189390
