Avoid Wynsors World of Shoes

Their customer servcie is the worst I have ever experienced.
I bought a pair of walking shoes on the 17th Dec and wore them twice. Firstly on the day I bought them, then again the following day when there was some sleet around. There was some sleet around and I had to cut across a couple of small areas of grass to get across the road. When I got home my feet were soaking.
I returned the shoes after just 4 days on the Monday and the supervisor and manager were not interested in the least. I was told that none of their shoes "unless otherwise labeled" are sold as waterproof or water repellent and therefore they could not exchange/credit or refund on the basis that they leaked.
I pointed out that I had bought hundreds of pairs of shoes and never had a new pair that leaked before and the manager advised that I should "treat them".
After a lot of 'discussion' the manager said he would sent them to Head Office for testing. He telephoned today to say that they had been tested? and there were no manufactures defaults. He also informed me that if I was to get my own independant test they would honour the result - at my cost of course.
He asked if I wanted the shoes back and when I asked what I would do with them he replied "you could use them on dry days". If it was not true I would not believe it.
Yes Wynsors may be cheap but do not get a problem with them.

How much did you pay for the shoes ?0

what were the shoes, leather, suede, canvas?? were they heeled/flat??
I dont know many pairs of shoes that you can walk across grass that was probably saturated from the sleet and your feet stay bone dry?? you could try welliesEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
They were only £15 but of course that is not the point really. They trade on being a discount shoe store and if you buy a pair of shoes you do expect them to be at least 'fit for use' ie that you can wear them in the rain as well as the dry. I did'nt buy them for fashion just for taking the dog for a walk. I have bought cheap pairs of shoes in the past and they did not leak after wearing them twice.
It was just the absolute lack of customer service that was unsatisfactory.0 -
They were cheap mens shoes and the grass verge was only about 5' wide. Hardly a hike across the fields. If I wanted to jump in puddles and walk across fields then yes I would use wellies. Are you telling me that you would not expect to buy a pair of shoes and they not to last 4 days? do you not expect to buy a pair of shoes and expect them to be at least 'water repellent'?0

I purchase all my shoes from Wynsors and have never had a problem with returning or exchanging a pair of shoes. I have always found the customer service to be excellent. I can understand what they are saying about the shoes that if they dont say they are waterproof and if they then leak when they get wet their is no manufacturing fault. I would only expect shoes to be water repellent if stated on the shoes. What material were they made of?0

My walking boots were £70 (half price sale), lots of labels attached telling me what they are made of, water repellent but not waterproof. I don't go walking as such, just take the dogs out. I think a lot of the boots on sale are glorified trainers.

it depends what type of shoes they were, what material they were made of?
I know if i walk on wet grass with my trainers im likely to get wet feetEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Must admit, this bugs me too. The last couple of times i`ve bought shoes from Clark`s i`m told they need to be waterproofed and would i like to buy the stuff from them !!
I remember when shoes came ready waterproofed!!
Surely they`re not fit for the purpose?0
