Internet explorer problems

I use several different browsers but mainly Opera and Firefox.
I still have to use Internet explorer for certain things.

A while ago IE6 developed a problem. Whenever I try to open it I get a short burst of sound as it opens then automatically shuts down alltogether. All in about a second.

This problem cant be unique to me because it all started in my last computer. I since built a new one. It was ok for a while but the problem started up in this one too.

I run XP SP2 and I tried updating IE6 to IE7 beta to see if that would help but it didn't
Can anyone advise?

Thanks

    Try this first,

Open IE, Tools, Internet Options, Programs Tab, Click Reset Web Settings, remove the tick then Yes and OK.
