congrats on the new signature hypno, you so impress me, i get excited everytime i see yours go down...
have been thinking about clearing out my dad's photos since you did yours, my dad died over 5 years ago and i just can't bring myself to do them yet, think it will take me more than a day though as i am not sure i can be ruthless to throw anything out yet... couldn't even declutter my xmas decorations today, i just love christmas too much... not as far forward with this throwing out as i thought i was... 2010 not got off to a brilliant start really...
discovered over the break that my nationwide easy access ISAs are only paying 0.25%:mad::mad::mad: nearly had a heart attack so went in to day to change it... what kind of rate is that????? answers on a postcard to the Director of the Nationwide.
sorry, hijack of thread over....have a nice recovering from work night (I am back tomorrow)0 -
Savingmore - things like photos are things you can only do when it feels right - whenever that may be. I just woke up on Saturday morning with the decision that I would get the photos done before I went to bed......and once I made that decision I had to run with it because it may be another 5 years before I feel that way inclined again.
So, don't stress if they remain undone - they will either get done at some point, or they won't.....as long as they remain dry, they can wait a bit longer, if you want. My dads photos were in the garage, and were in danger of getting spoiled if they stayed there much longer, so that formed part of my incentive I think.
It was tough - really tough, but I am glad that I have done it. Now, you should see the mountain of other stuff of his in the garage that I still have to go through - all his clothes, household possessions and about a million magazines dating back to 1924 - no kidding you!! (although I have a potential "home" lined up for the magazines, so am hopeful that comes off).
I think I will go and do flylady stuff for an hour.......then I can pay myself for the daySuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

thanks hypno, i don't have too much stuff apart from paperwork and photos, although i do have old cinny (sp?) film which i have looked at...and not sure what to do with it either as i don't want to throw it and i don't know if i want to see it again.... i did think i was over his death but in thinking about following your example i realised i wasn't... i agree, i will leave it until the summer and see if i can clear it then, it would release a large shelf in a cupboard so i could do with the space really...0 -

Savingmore, I took the cinefilm to a place that would put it on disc......still exactly the same images, but on a format that takes up a lot less space. It does cost, but it means you don't have to face actually watching them just yet, and can free up some of that space we all crave!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. My OH's a bit of a Cine film fan. He once bought a second hand Super 8 camera at a market with extra bits with it. When we looked at the films, among the holiday ones, was a film of the moon landing! Someone had filmed it on the black and white tv - complete with teak surround - v. posh. It was a very cool find and he was thrilled.
Anyway Hypno, just popping on to say I put my name in the ballot today, so fingers crossed for the 15th Jan0 -
