Advice on sending item Overseas please

Hi
I am currently selling an item on ebay and to my amazement I have had people from Australia and USA asking me for P&P costs.
Now I have never sent a parcel abroad before and have been looking into various methods of sending the parcel.
So far the cheapest quote I have (including insurance of £200) from DHL is almost £50 to send outside the EU.
This seems excessive - am I doing something wrong? Can anyone advise how I can get the cost down?
The item is a doll which I will pack in a box measuring 30cm x 20com x 12cm and the parcel will weigh approx 600g.
The item on ebay is 180450278484
I hope someone can offer advice as I don't want to put off potential buyers with extortionate shipping costs

How much does he weigh?
If it is under 2kg then use Royal Mail airsure with the additional insurance (£2.20) but limit your sales to countries (as far as you can) that airsure covers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for your prompt reply
The package will weigh about 600g
Limiting to the countries served by Airsure sounds a good idea - thanks0 -
Airsure still wont guarantee tracking once it has left the UK though (no service will)0
