Hi all,

Bought a Hotpoint WM for £350 from Sainsburys in September and its broken down allready!
OH has checkd fuse and socket etc and its not that. Hotpoint have said they wont come out til thur next week and will only say brtween hours of 8~6. I work in a school so cant get time off. I think its dreadful that its already brokn down, and that they wont come til next thurs, and that they cant say they will come after 4!!

Any ideas as to what I can do?? On hold to Sainsburys at mo but they are messing me about. I am trying to demand a new machine as that would be here quicker than waiting for a repair man. Have been told all the managers have gone home and someone will phone me in the next day or two

BTW Last week it came up with a fault F5 so I turned it off than back on again and it was ok, now it just keeps tripping the RCD. Sainsburys have said they wont do anything. Got to wait til thur 7th Jan for someone to come out. Am I wrong in thinking this is appauling for a four month old machine?

If you bought it from Sainsbury's then they have a duty under the sale of goods act to sort the problem out. You are entitled to repair or replacement within the first 6 months, and it is their responsibility as they sold it to you, so don't be fobbed off by them telling you to contact Hotpoint...
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.

Is the machine full of water? I ask as our hotpoint stopped working as it was full of water. We can open our door manually, it has a manual lever just were the door for the pump is. We drained the water, cleaned the filter then realised the problem was the waste pipe leading from the machine was blocked (full of dog hair etc) once we had done that if was fine. have you tried any of the above it may solve the problem? Just checked F5 on my machine is a drainage problem.

Thanks for the replies Keith and rev :T

Sainsburys have just said that I have to wait for the Hotpoint repair engineer. I'm just really cheesed off because I'm gonna have to wait til thur 7th Jan and even then if they can't come after 4pm I don't know what will happen:confused:

Machnine isn't full of water but on it's last load it didn't spin. I washed sheets and they came out soaking wet. I put them on spin alone and they still didn't spin ~ I'll ask Mr Frog to check the waste pipe thingy as it may be full of dog hair ~ have 4 whippets!! :D

Does sound like a problem with the filter and/or pump. This happened with my Hotpoint, turned out there was a button in the pump. Unfortunately it's one of those where the filter can only be reached from behind the machine
