How much would it cost to send it out again? I'd email the buyer and say 'Unfortunately you provided an incorrect address and the parcel has been returned to me. Please advise.' They might offer to send through the postage again. Although technically the buyer should pay, if it's only a small amount I'd probably just send it out again to avoid hassle and create goodwill. If it's a large amount then ask them to send through more money. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. How long did it take for the parcel to be returned? -
I've just discovered that a buyer who is wondering where his parcel has got to has similarily listed completely the wrong postcode on his paypal account ;+(
And if anyone who knows about this is reading how do I stand on a paypal item not recieved dispute if the buyer initiates one?
And how about royal mail claims for lost parcels if postcode is incorrect?0 -
How was the parcel sent? Was it first class parcel post?
The reason i ask is yesterday i sent one and i had the wrong postcode on it and they require the post code to be able to send it via parcel post. In the end they went by the address and came up with the post code on their system and i corrected it on the parcel.
If it was sent this way did the post office take the post code, as if they did i cant see how they didnt pick up on the fact that it was wrong

I always check addresses on Royal Mail first before I send them out. You need to register but it is free and it ensures I don't send things out to the wrong address. Hope this helps someone in future.

It got back after three weeks, was sent first class, the addy it went to did not refer to the postcode, think i'll just mail him, i'll pay the postage suppose its only a couple of quid. The parcel was going to Belfast, which may be why @ 1st class it took 3 weeks to be returned!!
Thanks y'all.RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

Post is eventually delivered to items even when they don't have a postcode... so it seems daft that it becomes completely undeliverable if the postcode is wrong. Are you sure it's the postcode that5's wrong, and not, for example, the house no?
I had a buyer recently sending to payment no. 31 instead of 13 (no. 31 doesn't exist) and she couldn't understand why it kept being sent back to her!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Don't send again until you have had some dialogue with the buyer tp ensure everything is OK.0

you shouldn't have to pay for non-delivery / re-delivery
the buyer, morally, should pay for re-delivery
however, if the buyer has used paypal,
the buyer can claim that it's not been delivered
paypal will refund the buyer the whole amount of the transaction
this will leave you out of pocket your listing fees, and your postage cost, and, even, possibly your final value fees :-(money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

That must be rather time-consuming to do for every single package, though I might use it for more expensive and/or heavy items.grimelda wrote:I always check addresses on Royal Mail first before I send them out. I have had mail with an incorrect postcode (sender's fault) successfully delivered to my house, about a week after it was posted.0
