tapes and records into mp3 / cd format ?

Anyone had sucsess with this ? - some kits on Ebay I see for about a tenner with a couple of leads and some some copied 3rd party software - any one used them ? ( cant tell from the feedback as most say that they havnt used it yet although they are giving pos feedback for quick receipt ! )

any know any alternative DIY methods that are equally as good or maybe better ! ?

    Stick the tape deck into line in, and use sound recorder in vista onwards, or audacity for xp and prior.

    you may have to get a phono plug/lead to stereo mini jack to connect the line out from the tape or line out from amp/preamp for a turntable, to the line in of the PC soundcard as headphone output is too high and will cause distortion. Maplin should have suitable adaptors. Or for vinyl you could buy a USB turntable. either way Audacity is a good free sound editor, find it here:
