please don't buy a saxo!! made of tinfoil and pva glue!

£1000 buys you a fair chunk of car these days. Think outside the box, would it be so bad to buy something a bit bigger such as a saloon? you get more for your money that way :)

I agree, you will get a decent motor for £1K.

When i change from banger to banger, i dot go looking for a particular make of car, i see whats about for the money and keep an open mind.

I buy the BEST car i look at...that could be ANY make once you are into banger territory.

ok I started looking on Autotrader. check out these bargains!! No idea where you're from so I did a Nationwide search.

    2002 PEUGEOT 206 1.4 LX 5dr [AC] Hatchback (£999 No Offers)

    2002 MG ZS 1.8 120 + 5dr Hatchback (£995)

    2002 CHRYSLER Neon 2.0 LX (£1000)

    2000 FORD Mondeo 1.8i LX (£1000)

there are countless others out there as well, these were ust the first four I came to that looked half decent value.

you posted whilst I was, so missed your comment. Agree 100%. I buy the best car I can for a set budget, which obviously varies each time I change my car. I change it roughly every 18months (often less though!) as I get bored easily.

My latest car is a 53 reg 1.8 Astra Coupe, picked up for the princely sum of £750 as it had a fault code showing and apparently "was undriveable". I took my scanner with me to view it, plugged it in, saw it was a problem with the air flow meter. Paid the bloke, plugged in the scanner again, wiped code, unplugged air flow meter, and drove a perfectly good car home with no issues. :D £35 it cost me to get a replacement AFM through Vauxhall, and 2 minutes to fit it using 2 jubilee clips :)

nice find, wouldnt touch the MG ZS though unless its had an uprated gasket fitted, also having just got rid of a R75 i know how hard it is to sell a rover, which is a shame as they are good cars but people are misinformed, (you cant get parts for a rover/MG) which is complete rubbish
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

i hate people like you lol, (only kidding) but that is an incrediable price for a coupe let alone a 53 plate, i just paid double for a W reg 2.0 DTI estate, but im still pleased with what i got

a cynic looks at the price of everything, and knows the value of nothing.

Just because a car may seem a good bargain at 1000, doesnt mean that one for 1,300 is a worse deal. Particularly when you find out later that the 1k 'bargain' has gear box leaks - needs new brake pipes, etc etc.

    caveat emptor
