Scottish Power - A warning
Options
I had a moment of weakness back in mid December and allowed one of Scottish Power's door salesmen into my house. In my defence, I had just moved in and wasn't too sure who I was with anyway, so thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
He did his job well, and I was stupid enough to sign up, all the while ignoring the little voice telling me otherwise. After he'd gone, I looked at the pack, did some reviewing on the web and came to my senses.
The same day I phoned up to cancel the order. It was actually quite simple, but the women sounded a little put off. Oh well, job done and I'd learnt from it.
Until today, when I get mail through the post welcoming me to Scottish Power. A phone call and lots of waiting reveals that my order had not been cancelled back when I had cancelled it. I understand it can be tricky to push the right buttons on a keyboard.
I was sympathetic of the basic mistake though, and just wanted it cancelled. But oh no, I can't because a few too many days have now passed, so a complaint has to be raised, and I now need to wait 5 to 10 days for them to get back to me. I dread to think of the mess that is going to be made as my current suppliers are going to be told of the switch, when I don't actually want it to happen. 5 to 10 days, just to wait for someone to contact me? Sounds like great customer service. A bit like not cancelling orders when requested to do so.
So just a word of warning really, it's common sense to ignore door to door salesmen, but for some reason I had an off day, and paid for it. Also, if you think you've cancelled your order with Scottish Power, you might want to re-check.
Having just moved house, it's amazing how many utility companies seem be quite useless. BT still holds the crown, but Scottish Power are doing their best to steal it.

Google Erroneous Transfer Charter"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

If you have not put your name on the current suppliers books then SP probable wont be able to take over the account. I would phone the current supplier and ask them to block any transfer.0
