I have an interview for a office job on Wednesday. I have never had a interview and am stuck for what to wear. I wanted a pant suit, but can find nothing to fit properly on the high street as I am a busty size 28 and never wear anything with buttons. What else could I wear that is appropriate and professional? I am at my wits end and just want to cry! I usually shop in Evans and am a 26/28 in there.

Is there nothing in evans that will do? I think a skirt is probably more flattering, and dare I say it, I think its better to wear a skirtdress to many office interviews. Thick tights will keep you warmer and feel ''covered'' which might be a concern. . what about a dress...a plainish dark wrap dress? I think its important to be comfortable as well as appropriate, and with more weight I find fabric with some give, unlike formal tailoring, helps that. I have a formal business thing in January and I'm certainly wearing a black wrap dress: I hav one and I'm not buying anythin new for a one off.
Good luck in your interview!0 -

Can you wear a dress to an interview? Do you need a jacket?? My husband says I "must" wear a suit to an interview. I am so clueless as I have spent many years as a SAHM and have no smart clothes!0

I'm a size 30/32. I wore a pair of wide leg trousers and a v neck pink jumper to my last interview - I got the job!. Personally, I don't wear skirts because my thighs chaff If you don't like button up things, cover the buttons with a thinish jumper.
Wrap dresses are slimming if you have a big bust, and soft folds can hide a tummy too. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

What is the job? I think a smar dress, skirt, shirt/jumper combo or even, perhaps a twin set..is fine for many roles.
It is important to present your self well, be smart and appropriate, for some office roles a suit is not necessarily appropriate, and...may not in your case be the smartest option. For many it would be, but you are you: and I think its better to show you at your best and appropriate than you in a suit you feel is not ''right'' for you. Is this a Professional role...tht might change things?
Rashka...would thick tights work for you? Or, pants with legs?0 -
I agree, dark trousers and a nice top should be fine. Marks and Spencer have some jumpers in that are rather nice and all large sizes ie 22 and above in a variety of colours. Think they were approx £9.
Failing that, you could browse somewhere like jd williams online for something
Good luck with your interview.x0 -

Thank you. I am feeling slightly less panicked now as this gives me many more options. Suits, especially jacket look very silly on me.
It is a data entry/minimum wage job. Dress code for the office is smart casual.0 -
Think about what you'd be expected to wear for the job and wear a smarter version of that. If you'd need to wear a suit everyday you'd need to wear that for the interview - but otherwise you should be able to get away with separates.
I'm a size 24 with a GG bust so suits and shirts don't work for me - I wear jumpers and trousers normally. Go for a nice quality trouser, maybe smart tweed or patterned - not the shiny black Evans ones. Then wear a good quality cashmere or cotton v neck sweater. Nice bag, shoes, accessories and good hair and makeup and you will look much smarter that in an ill fitting suit.
Sexy underwear for added confidence and you're good to go.
When i interviewed i preferred candidates that look smart and comfortable in what they are wearing than someone who has dragged their interview suit out the wardrobe. I gives me an idea of what they will wear everyday - when someone where’s an ill fitting suit it doesn't bode well for their other clothes choices.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
Hi
Do you have an Ann Harvey store nearby?
This is cardi/ jacket is in the sale

While I know black is a bit of a predictable choice normally, for last minute formalish wear, it fits the bill. Have you got a black skirt or trousers already? The top underneath would be less important , but I'd add a splash of colour/interest with a long scarf or a fab bold necklace and a great handbag.
Good luck, try find something you feel comfortable in. Plain and simple is fine, just add a striking accessory.
PS Too late for your interview, but there is a great sale dress from Next in size 28 for £10 here, wear with a long line cardi, would be fab office/interview wear. Search "plus size grey dress" as it won't link duirect to the page

There's also there bold print wrap dress in size 26 for £12, which again could be matched with a long line cardi

I've tried both - the 'comfort pants' work best, but even the correct size are very constricting around my 'thunder thighs'. This tights - very hard to find in the correct size that don't bunch up around my anklesPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
