    Also look at:

    https://www.fish4homes.co.uk (supported by local newspapers)

    https://www.houseladder.co.uk

    https://www.assertahome.com

    https://www.propertyfinder.com

in addition to righmove these cover most of the estate agents etc.
  • One of the better ones is https://www.rightmove.co.uk and ones from that site get duplicated on fish4homes, so it's probably not worth interrogating the latter.

You could also try https://www.primelocation.com and https://www.linkprop.org.uk both of which tend to have rather less properties being advertised at any one time, but you may just find the one you're looking for.

If you're tempted to look at properties all over the world try https://www.homesonsale.co.uk (this can get depressing when you see how cheap houses are in some countries)

Happy searching and good luck !

    https://www.vebra.com

is worth a look as well (it's used by a lot of the estate agents with their own branding covering up where the info's really coming from)
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

When I was looking for property I found that almost all the ones I was interested in were actually sold but the websites had not been updated. I find that this is the problem with a lot of these 'general' sites like find-a-property, fish4homes etc.

What i did find was that estate agents own websites were always up to date in my experience. These sites also tended to have more information such as virtual tours, more photos, etc.
The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.
  • I've been reading this thread. I think nowadays you have alternatives to the traditional way of selling. You can stick with the traditional (most expensive) route - estate agent, it's usual to pay about 1- 1.5% (+vat) - that could quite easily cost a couple of grand.

The other alternatives are - go with someone like house ladder or the litle house company. You create an account , upload a photo or two and do arrange the viewings and your done. These type of nationwide websites are popping up everywhere. But the problem with them is that they are too big. For example 3 houses for sale in Burnley, 10 house in Edinburgh, 2 houses in Colwyn Bay etc, these sites are too sparse.
If you want to look for a house , you want a site that covers in depth your area.
For us in Cardiff / South Wales we used h4house.co.uk

We did pay for an advert, but by doing that we also got a ForSale sign erected for us, then we did a video, uploaded a couple of photo's and then arranged for viewers to come on Saturdays between 12 and 4, so we controlled the viewings not the estate agent or the viewers. We sold and completed within 3 months - and reckon we saved about 2500 - great - thats a car and a holiday , in return for a bit of work from us - happy days
  • i dont think you can beat the rightmove / property bee combo at the momement.. others sites just dont have the volume that rightmove has

Rightmove is probobly the biggest and is used by many (not all) estate agents.

Primelocation is similar (not quite as widely used by EAs) but has the added advantage (to me anyway) that you can search for properties by keyword (eg 'stable' or 'swimming pool' if these are things you want.

Most sites (including Rightmove) only allow you to search by area or postcode, price and size (bedrooms).

See also here for a list of sites.

The OP wasn't asking about how much it costs to list a house with an EA or one of these sites, merely where to look.....

You wouldn't happen to be the proprietor of h4house, by any chance, posting here for personal gain? Your first two paragraphs sound very much like a sales pitch to me.
